Overview

Network31 Internet offers POP3 e-mail accounts with all of it's hosting plans. POP3 accounts differ from SMTP mail accounts in that POP3's are incoming mail only. SMTP is outgoing mail, and is usually reserved for use with your dial up connection. The advantage of having POP3 accounts is the fact that the accounts will reside @yourdomainname.xxx. Visitors to your site can then easily identify and remember your business or personal site through your e-mail address. The following information will help you set up the most common Mail Clients for retrieving your mail from our servers. If you are forwarding your mail to an already existing account somewhere else, then you do not use the information below.

A. Netscape Mail

1. Open Netscape Browser
2. Go to Options menu bar and choose Mail and News Preferences
3. Choose the Servers tab:
    a. Outgoing SMTP should be the mail server address of your dial-up company
    b. Incoming POP server should be MailAgent.Network31.Net
    c. POP3 username is username@yourdomainname.xxx Administration Page
4. Click the Identity tab:
    a. Enter your name
    b. Enter your full e-mail address
    c. Enter your reply e-mail address
5. Click Apply

B. Internet Mail Setup

1. Open Internet Mail
2. Go to Mail menu and choose Options
3. Click the Servers tab and enter your personal information
4. Outgoing SMTP server should be the mail server of your dial-up account
5. Incoming POP server should be the MailAgent.Network31.Net
6. In the Log On Settings, enter
a. mail account username ie. username@yourdomainname.xxx
b. the password you set for that account
7. Click Apply

C. Outlook Express

1. Open Outlook Express
2. Go to Tools menu and choose Accounts
3. Select the Mail tab and the Add button
4. Setup Wizard will appear. Follow the Wizard until Finish is selected
5. Repeat above steps to create multiple e-mail accounts in Outlook Express

D. Eudora Mail Setup

1. Go to tools, options
2. Click getting started:
    a. Set the pop account to user@domain.com
    b. Set real name to the name you want to display when sending e-mail
    c. Set the return address as the e-mail address you want people to reply to (usually user@domain.com)
3. Click hosts, set the SMTP server to the one that your ISP provides

Everything else should be set up correctly.

E. Netscape Communicator Mail

1. Open Netscape Communicator
2. Go to Edit menu and choose Preferences
3. Click on Mail and Groups and the + sign adjacent to it
4. Click on Identity and enter your name and mail address
5. Click on Mail Server and enter the following:
    a. Incoming POP should be MailAgent.Network31.Net
    b. Outgoing SMTP should be the mail server of your dial-up company
    c. Choose the POP3 radio button under Mail Server Type
6. Click OK

Pop E-Mail Account

POP stands for "post office protocol." It is simply an e-mail address @yourdomain.xxx. Network31 Internet mail servers store mail that is sent to one of your accounts @yourdomain.xxx until you check your mail.

Mail Forwarding

The mail forwarding option lets users re-direct any e-mail sent to their POP account, automatically. You can forward your mail to any address, but to make it simple, 99% of users forward mail to their dial up account. To set up this option, create a new user and scroll to bottom of the page. There is a field titled "forwarding address." Put the address here and click save.

Eudora to get my mail

It is easy to set up your browser or mail program to get your mail. Simply change your POP server setting, and account information to the following:

1. POP server: MailAgent.Network31.Net
2. SMTP server: should stay the same as your dial up account
3. Account: POP account your checking for mail
4. Password: password you gave that account when you set it up. Save these settings and send yourself a message.

E-mail Alias

An e-mail alias is not an e-mail account. It is simply an additional user that is set up to perform the same function as a regular e-mail address. For example, you can set up an alias for your account info@yourdomain.com. Let's say it was info2. If anyone sent an e-mail to info2@yourdomain.com, it would end up at info@yourdomain.com even though info2 is not a real e-mail address. To set up an alias, submit an e-mail request form.

Mail Address

By default, the software enters the mail account in this format. You can erase the mail. part of the address if you wish. You will still get the mail whether it is there or not.

The Recipient

In order for your forms to send mail correctly using formmail.pl, the e-mail recipient MUST be an e-mail located under your domain. Those results can not be forwarded to any other e-mail address. You must retrieve those results using a mail client directly from the mail server.

Send Mail

No. We do not allow sending of mail through our mail servers. We do this to protect our clients from spam and bulk e-mail. Just one customer who spams on a particular mail server can adversely affect hundreds of other clients mail service. Always set your SMTP server to that of your dial up account.

Add more E-Mail accounts

To add more E-Mail accounts you will need to Submit an E-Mail Request form. Depending on you hosting package there may be an additional charge for additional E-Mail accounts.

Add Auto responder

To install an auto responder you will need to Submit an E-Mail Request form.
